Hello! I’m Gerson, the Executive Director of Habi Education Lab. Together with my fellow directors Bernice Dy and Clifton Esteban, we designed a series of online courses that provide a deeper view into our organization’s leadership style. It’s our own way of sharing the wealth of insights we have gathered, both from experiences and experts. This course, Stay Curious Longer, is an ode to one of Habi’s organizational values: Curiosity for Human Experiences. Something which we constantly aim for as leaders in our team.
Being a design leader doesn’t mean having the right answers, or saving your team from making mistakes. Good leadership should empower others to learn. And that means taking on a different persona, the coach. Someone who can step back, observe, and stay curious a bit longer, before stepping in to give advice or feedback. In this course, we’ll understand how being more coach-like can help not just our teams and colleagues, but ourselves too.
While this is not a coaching certification program, we hope that by the end of this course, you will be more comfortable in taking on the role of the coach in your conversations with your colleagues. And maybe, this can be an entry point into going deeper into the discipline of coaching.
Most of the ideas in this course is inspired by Michael Bungay Stanier, in his books The Coaching Habit and The Advice Trap. We’ll share links to the book at the end of the course for more deeper reading. Enjoy!
